On Golden Pool!
The USA took two gold medals and a bronze in tonight's swimming action. Jenny Thompson lead the women's 4 x 200 freestyle team to glory. Meanwhile, Mysty Hyman shocked the world by beating the local favorite Aussie Susie O'neill to take the gold in the women's 200m butterfly. Gary Hall, Jr took home a bronze medal in the men's 100m freestyle.

The Aussie crowd wasn't totally disappointed as the locals put on a hell of a show too.

I broaden my horizons and take in two new Olympic events today: Swimming and Canoe / Kayak (new to me). Both are simply spectacular! The friendly nature of the Aussies plays two critical roles today as I attempted to navigate the two hour multi-train ride out to the Penrith white water stadium and attempted to barter my way into the sold out gold medal event.
